technical 30.01.2012
The 5th to the 8th of January 2012 was the 50th anniversary of the annual KDP/CMAS PTTK Polish Diving Instructors meeting to be held in Kalatowki, Zakopane Poland. It was very well attended by the Polish Diving Instructors and it was a very good opportunity to exchange experiences of leading Polish diving KDP/CMAS instructors.
There was a very full program of very distinguished speakers and all presentations were very well attended. Among the distinguished speakers were the President of the CMAS Technical Committee Mr. Kevin O'Shaughnessy who spoke of what the benefits of being a family member of the CMAS meant and what the CMAS TC can offer. Also the CMAS TC group leader for International Cave diving, Beat Müller, presented on the safety aspects of cave diving. Doctor Jacek Kot gave a trilling presentation on the safety aspects of Diving and on the effects of Decompression Illness and how to avoid getting the "Bends". We enjoyed the high level of presentations and through questions and answers a lot was learned. As usual we had a lot of snow and the Tatra Kalatowki Hotel was perfect for those who wanted to partake in skiing and snow boarding, the climate was excellent. During a special dinner on the last evening, some of the KDP/CMAS instructors were honoured with gold badges "For extemporary contribution and dedication to KDP/PTTK". The Honours were given on behalf of the KDP/PTTK board by the President of Polish Underwater Activity Commission (KDP/CMAS PTTK) Mr. Michal Gorny, he himself was also honoured at the end.
Certainly the good news is that in its 55th year of existing the Polish CMAS F00 Federation is doing very well. Ambitious plans for the future allow the leaders of KDP/CMAS to look optimistically into future and expect a further increase in the number of courses that can be given and an increase in CMAS certified divers.
Already today arrangements dare being made for the next event and we invite you to the next edition of Kalatowki 2013 in Zakopane, Poland - the oldest and one of the most prestigious CMAS diving events in our country.
