The Opening Ceremony was held in the harbour of Peniche with a “Parade” of all teams through the streets of Peniche up to the harbour.
After some speeches, the flags of Portugal and CMAS were raised and the CMAS hymn were played in the presence of the local Authorities as well as CMAS representatives and the President of CMAS Sports Committee declared the opening of the Championship.
On the 1st day the weather conditions were not good (zone 2 of the Particular Rules), strong wind and poor visibility underwater but even so the International Judge with the agreement of the Technical Director decided to proceed.
Of course the quantity of fish catches were not satisfactory but no accidents or complains had been reported.
The 2nd day the weather conditions improved, especially zone 1 showed a much better visibility. As a result most of the contestants had better catches and more satisfactory results then the previous day so the weighing of fishes lasted a little longer.
Immediately after weighing the fishes, we did proceed with the delivery of the CMAS medals to the first 3 athletes following all the CMAS procedures and after the Ceremony of the flags and hymn the President of the Sports Committee declares the Championship closed.
The organisers, the FPAS with the collaboration of the local Nautical Club took care of lodging all the participants and provided for food and assistance at the sea and security.
That night on the “Gala Dinner” organised by the hosts souvenirs were offered to all athletes and teams.
