World Oceans Day is June 8th

World Oceans Day is a global day of ocean celebration and collaboration for a better future. This site serves as the central coordinating platform for World Oceans Day, with free resources and ideas for everyone – no matter where you live – to help expand the reach and impact of World Oceans Day on June 8 and year round.

This year, people all over our blue planet are celebrating with the theme “Healthy Oceans, Healthy Planet.” Organizations and individuals around the world are promoting prevention of plastic ocean pollution with events in their communities, special announcements, and everything in between!

World Oceans Day has grown tremendously each year since 2003 when this site first launched. With hundreds of partners getting involved and especially since official United Nations-recognition of June 8 as World Oceans Day in late 2008, this site has reached millions worldwide. As a result of this rapid growth, there will be a completely new World Oceans Day website released in May 2016.
