Archaeological Site Visit - Red sea Coast

Science 28.05.2018

Gerd Knepel, CMAS Director Underwater Cultural Heritage, and Ralph Schill, CMAS President of the Scientific Committee visited an archaeological site in the desert close to El Quadum Bay on the southern Egyptian Red Sea coast. The site is believed to be the port of Myos Hormos constructed by the Ptolemies around the 3rd century BC.

It was connected to the Nile valley by a Roman road, built in the 1st century.
