Shark attack in Egypt

On Saturday, 21st of March 2015, a 53 year old German was snorkeling at Coraya Bay (official name: Marsa Um Gerifat) house reef in Egypt, when he lost his lower right limb by a shark attack as the official report states. A zodiac skipper from the local dive center brought the victim back to shore.

The 53 year old German died on the way to Port Gahleb Hospital due to excessive bleeding. The typ of shark could not be identified, as Egypt is lacking specialists, said Constanze Conrad from the Scientific Committee of the Egyptain CMAS federation. The pictured shark is a small and  harmless Whitetip reef shark, Triaenodon obesus (Rüppell, 1837).
