The Finswimming World Cup returned with an amazing world record in Lignano

Finswimming Underwater Sport 23.05.2021

After one year of hibernation due to the pandemic, the first round of the World Cup could have been held in LIGNANO SABBIADORO, on the 19th and 20th March 2021 with more than 330 athletes from 12 countries competing.

During this event, Ukrainian athlete Oleksii ZAKHAROV broke the world record on the 400m SF with a time of 02:55.57. This new record replaces the record of Evgueny SMIRNOV in 02:56.93 established during the CMAS Games in 2013. With this performance, the Ukrainian athlete erases the oldest record in the category from the table.

This progression must be highlighted too because we remember his victory in this distance during the last European Championship in IOANNINA 2019 in 02:57.96. Congratulations Oleksii. Our congratulations and thanks also to FIPSAS and the Finswimming Commission for organizing a very successful and safe event.
