On the 25th February Board of CMAS Holds a One Day Meeting

Board of Directors of CMAS gathers for a one day meeting to approve 2011 balance and 2012 budget. The meeting gave a unanimous approval to the 2011 figures,  showing a steady improvement in the Confederation's financial performance. This year's budget shows modest growth. It has been also decided to go ahead with the step-by-step realization of the three language website, making it function on all the three languages of CMAS. During the meeting the webmasters of the Confederation gave a presentation of the new web design, the facebook link, the YouTube connection and the advancement of the present position of their "History of CMAS" project

Members of the Board,- besides the above matters, - had to deal with the following subjects:

• juridical issues related to disciplinary matters and Disciplinary Commission tasks,
• closing the - almost  two year old - issue related to the lawful representation of the Ukrainian Federation. Based on the relevant documents of the competent authorities of that country the status of the President of the Ukrainian Underwater Federation, Mr. S. Predko can not be a question any more,
• Technical Committee made a number of proposals related to the membership of federations. Countries, as well as federations members of CMAS were strongly warned to look out for CDCs and sometimes federations that do not follow strictly the procedures of CMAS training of divers and issuing CMAS divers's licences and cards. Any mistakes in this field will result in losing CMAS membership and the right to train and certify divers,
• affiliations's issues were discussed. Federations were accepted, like Senegal's re-admission, or the accession of the  Philippines Association on Underwater Activities (PAUA) to the Scientific Committee
• proposal of the Scientific Committee to sign a cooperation agreement with UNESCO was approved and the green light given to execute the agreement during the 2012 GA in Rome,
• apnoea world records of Turkish athletes Mr. C. Ulusoy and Ms. S. Arcumen were passed, as doping test proved to be negative,
• a number of disciplines's  rules were discussed at length, but not many got the approval of the BoD,
• Board of Scrutinisers of the 2012 General Assembly has been discussed and approved
• decision on the proposal of the BoD to the 2012 GA in respect of the venue of the 2013 General Assembly has been discussed without a decision. After Russia's-San Petersburg, Philippines'-Cebu Island, Tunisia also announced its interest to host the Elective GA of 2013. It has been agreed, that the interested countries should send their detailed proposals to CMAS before the 2012 GA, so after careful studying, member federations could take a responsible and correct decision,
• the time for the next BoD Meeting has been set for the 20th April, a day before the 2012 General Assembly in Rome
