Competitions of the 16th Finswimming World Championship at Hódmezóvásárhely-Hungary are over with a great number of World Records broken

The 16th Finswimming World Championship has ended on the 6th August. In more than half of the disciplines the world records have been broken. The scoreboard had to announce 17 times, "New World Record". During the 8 days of competitions close to 300 athletes from thirty-one countries gave their best to win the medals of the races.

The number of broken records shows the exceptionally  high level of the competitions and the level of preparation of all teams.  At the junior level 2 world records , 2 records of European  juniors, 17 world record and , 37 continental records, - 8 Asian, 14 American, 15 European - were given to the past.

The races were transmitted online by a professional TV crew, including the opening and closing ceremonies. At any one moment the maximum viewers surpassed 31 thousand from 87 countries. At the end of the pool races and beginning of the long distance disciplines, a "giga-party"  was held for the athletes that went on until the early hours of the 4th August, without any public disturbance, hurdle or  need for interference from the side of the organizers. The "fiesta" of more than 700 people reflected true sportsmanship and gave a remarkable example of the best CMAS traditions of behaviour and self control.

CMAS leaders, organizers of the Championship, as well as citizens of Hódmezővásárhely are glad and proud that they were part of this magnificent event, showing great sporting achievements as much as excellent human qualities. Quoting President A. Ferrero, "....from now on CMAS standards of organizing world championships would be measured to Hódmezővásárhely-Hungary..."
