1st European Conference on Scientific Diving 2015
12.01.2015Economic, public and scientific interest has been steadily increasing towards the near coastline and shallow waters. About 40% of the world's population lives within 100 kilometres of the coast. Thus there are new demands for data from the shallow, near shore regions for planning and sustainable development. These data are required by cities, regional planers, government agencies, marine and fresh water scientists and many more. Scientific Diving as a tool for the survey of this region unifies the increasing data requests, which results in an increased need of information exchange.
The past workshops aimed to merge diving scientists worldwide for technical and scientific discussions. This applies to the methodology and equipment used, and to the transfer of in situ data. The first international workshop “Research in Shallow Marine and Fresh Water Systems”, initiated by independent marine and freshwater scientists, took place in Freiberg (Germany) in 2009. The second took place in Milazzo (Italy) in 2010, and the third in Bremen (Germany) in 2013.
However, we are glad to announce and invite you to the first joined meeting for European Scientific Diving in March 2015 in Stuttgart, Germany. This will be combining the two symposium series “Research in Shallow Marine and Fresh Water Systems” with the "International Symposium on Occupational Scientific Diving" to the 1st European Conference on Scientific Diving.
