Based on the respective directive and decision of CMAS Board of Directors, the Executive Board issues the letter of cancellation thus terminating the Contract for the Organization of II. CMAS World Games 2011 in Neiva and San Andres - Colombia
confederation 02.02.2011The document signed on the 30th September 2009 between CMAS and the Departmental Governments of Huila and the Isle of San Andres precisely stipulated the duties of the parties. The Colombian side to date did not manage to fulfil any of its fundamental obligations despite of the fact that the Board of Directors of CMAS assisted organisers with three substantial deadline postponements.
The Confederation has put a lot of time, effort and funds into the project and assisted Colombian counterparts with its experience, contacts and goodwill to help them organise the Games. Unfortunately CMAS support and helping hand did not bring the required result.
Seeing all the delays, as well as having in mind the best interests of CMAS athletes around the world the Board on its November 27th 2010 meeting has decided to put 31st January 2011 as the final deadline for the fulfilment of all the obligations, of which the Colombian side was duly informed. The cancellation of the Games in Colombia had to be done in the best interests of CMAS, saving major sport events of 2011.
Next Board Meeting on the 19th February will make proposals as fare as individual world championships are concerned.
