Report of World Games in Cali 2013
The World Games 2013 in Cali (COL) started on the 25th of July with the opening ceremony. The World Games include all the sports recognized by the International Olympic Committee as Olympic sports which are not scheduled during the Summer Olympic Games. The World Games are organized in the year following the Games of the Olympiad.
At the World Games the CMAS is represented by Finswimming. The athletes take part in 6 races: 50m apnea, 50m surface, 100m surface, 200m surface, 400m surface and 4*100m surface. Twenty four finswimmers (twelve men and twelve women) are qualified for each race according to their performance of the previous season. The races are scheduled on 26th and 27th of July.

Andrea Nava’s World Games record in the 100m SF
For the finswimmers the challenge started on this morning (07/27/13) in Cali. The first race of the World Games was the 100m male SF category.
During the heats of the morning, the Italian finswimmer Andrea Nava was able to set a new World Games record for the 100m SF with 35’’29. He is followed by Alexandre Noir (FRA) with 35’’74 and Pavel Kabanov (RUS) with 35’’82.

Lauschus won first place in 400m SF
The German finswimmer Max Lauschus took the lead in the 400m SF with 3’03’’31. Denes Kanyo (HUN) arrived closely behind him (3’03’’39). The bronze medal went to Russian Evgeny Smirnov (3’06’’78).

The first female race of the World Games was the 200m SF. As expected, the Russian swimmer Valeriya Baranovskaya took the first place with 1’30’’76. She is followed by Yana Trofymez from Ukraine (1’32’’47) and Csilla Karolyi from Hungary (1’32’’75).
