Yet another 2012 world record during the World Cup in LIGNANO
246 athletes of 60 clubs representing 15 countries were present in LIGNANO for the second round of the 2012 World Cup. Although fewer swimmers participated than in 2011, more countries were represented which fact confirms the importance of this competition in our discipline.
Many outstanding achievements were carried out during this competition, perfectly organized by the Finswimming Commission of the FIPSAS. We were definitely witness to a lot of great performances but it's the Junior Martin MAZAC of the Czech Club Laguna who everybody will remember as he beat the Junior World Record with his time of 20" 13 on the 50m Bi Fins. A nice reward for this young man already so accustomed to being on the juniors' podium. It must also be rewarding for the people running the Laguna Club who invest a great amount every year to participate in the World Cup.
Thanks to the efficient organization of the speaker, Stefano MANZI and the main judge, Valter GERBI, the schedules were always respected despite the significant number of swimmers. This competition has served as a trial run for the organizers, both locally and from the FIPSAS before the European Championships, which will take place in this very same swimming pool. The classification of the first 3 clubs:
1 | KVS LAGUNA NOVÝ JIČCÍN | CZECH REPUBLIC | 1308 pts |
2 | KVS CARETA ZVOLEN | SLOVAKIA | 1191 pts |
3 | TEAM 47 SKA | RUSSIA | 1050 pts |
