The XXX. Euro African Championship has been held in the City of Cadiz - Spain, on the past 5th and 6th of September.
16 Countries were presented: Denmark, Croatia, Greece, Finland, Italia, Slovenia, Great Britain, Portugal, Russia, San Marino, Russia, Cyprus Spain, Tunis, Turkey and Ukraine.
After looking through the CMAS Inscriptions of all the Countries present, CMAS Technical Delegate representative, Mr. Marco Paggini, checked all the Inscriptions, as well the CMAS Sport Licenses of all Athletes present.
On Friday at 10.00 o’clock, there was a Technical meeting presided by the CMAS Delegate and supported by the local Director Mr. Manuel Baena, where the usual points were treated: revising and clarification of doubts of the Particular Rules and list of fishes, Information of the Security Plan and Drawing of the boats and first day weighting sequence.
The same day at 20.00 the Opening Ceremony was held, followed by all the CMAS Protocol and the President of the Spear Fishing Commission in representation of the CMAS President declared the opening of the Championship.
Saturday at 09.15 the first stage of the Competition had started. The stage had the duration of 5 hours and due the distance and weather conditions, as per decision of the CMAS Delegate, was performed in the zone called as “zone 2” in the Particular Rules .
The conditions of the sea were satisfactory, with good visibility, some light waves and light wind, three knots from North.
The Competition run normally and after the weighting of the fish no complains had been reported.
The 2nd day was held in the “Zone 1” and the weather conditions presented to be a little better in visibility, almost no waves, almost no wind and the Athletes in general could bring to the weight, an increase of fishes cached.
Again everything run normally and after the weighting of the fishes no claims had been reported.
After finishing the weighting of the fishes and calculating the final results the winners were announced and the first three were subjected to Anti Doping control.
The Championship finished officially following the CMAS protocol of closure, with the delivery of CMAS medals to the first three Athletes classified, the lowering of the CMAS Flag, the sound of CMAS Hymn and the official speech of the President Anna Arzanova closed the Championship.
